No suelen hacer visitas guiadas, supongo que el tiempo de inactividad equivale a la p\u00e9rdida de producci\u00f3n. Pero el fin de semana del evento Triumph Live fuera del centro del patrimonio en Gaydon, eso es justo lo que hizo Triumph. Compramos nuestras entradas para el evento con antelaci\u00f3n y, de la nada, recibimos una invitaci\u00f3n para una visita a la f\u00e1brica de Hinkley el viernes por la tarde antes del evento. Fant\u00e1stico.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00ed que bajamos, sin saber qu\u00e9 esperar y, desde luego, sin esperar poder acceder a toda la f\u00e1brica con el personal all\u00ed, relajado y servicial, para responder a cualquier pregunta.<\/p>\n<p>Aparcamos entre las masas descendentes de Triumph y nos dirigimos a una puerta abierta en el lateral del edificio de la f\u00e1brica. All\u00ed nos encontramos con empleados felices y sonrientes que nos indicaron d\u00f3nde dejar nuestro equipo y nos hablaron brevemente de lo que \u00edbamos a ver.<\/p>\n<p>Era incre\u00edble ver fila tras fila de motos terminadas, embolsadas y en cajas y apiladas en estanter\u00edas listas para su env\u00edo. Y tambi\u00e9n las piezas de repuesto: una enorme fila de llantas delanteras y traseras de 675 que recogimos. Eran incre\u00edblemente ligeras para la potencia y los esfuerzos que tienen que soportar. Y el personal de Triumph se lo tom\u00f3 muy en serio: siempre que nos ci\u00f1\u00e9ramos a las rutas que hab\u00edan marcado con cinta adhesiva, no tuvieron inconveniente en que hici\u00e9ramos todas las fotos que quisi\u00e9ramos y manipul\u00e1ramos el material que hab\u00eda por all\u00ed. Despu\u00e9s de pasar por una zona con algunos motores Daytona 675 y algunas motos reconstruidas para que les ech\u00e1ramos un vistazo, entramos en la zona de production proper, la primera parte que estaba llena de fresadoras, pulidoras y hornos donde terminan los cig\u00fce\u00f1ales, c\u00e1rteres y bloques de cilindros.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-2' class='gallery galleryid-2426 gallery-columns-3 Rocket III?\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>Para ser sinceros, no esper\u00e1bamos ver este nivel de ingenier\u00eda en nuestras instalaciones. Hoy en d\u00eda, gran parte de este tipo de ingenier\u00eda se realiza fuera de las instalaciones, en plantas de fabricaci\u00f3n, y las piezas se ensamblan en una planta de montaje. Pero aqu\u00ed, en Hinkley, los componentes de fundici\u00f3n se traen y se terminan in situ antes de pasar a la cadena de montaje. Vimos fresadoras, pulidoras y un enorme horno donde se cuecen 16 tipos diferentes de bielas. Tambi\u00e9n vimos culatas de Rocket 3 y Thunderbird Storm en varias fases de mecanizado. Como se puede ver en las fotos, Triumph coloc\u00f3 algunos expositores de los distintos componentes para que nos qued\u00e1ramos boquiabiertos. Pensaba que mis cilindros de la Rocket III eran lo suficientemente grandes... hasta que vi las culatas de la Thunderbird Storm. Eran enormes.<\/p>\n<p>Y as\u00ed pasamos a la mejor parte: la cadena de montaje. Parec\u00eda que hab\u00eda cuatro modelos en montaje cuando pasamos por all\u00ed: la Rocket 3, la Thunderbird Storm, la Tiger y (creo) una Street Triple. Primero vimos los motores, enormes bultos sobre una cinta transportadora. Enormes estanter\u00edas de componentes etiquetados y almacenados en cubos, contenedores y estantes. Caja tras caja de \u00e1rboles de levas y estantes de extremos traseros Rocket. Desde la cinta transportadora para montar los cuadros y los motores, \u00e9stos se suben a un sistema a\u00e9reo que mantiene las motos a la altura de las personas para poder a\u00f1adir el resto de la moto: cableado, horquillas, ruedas, dep\u00f3sitos, etc., etc. Todo parec\u00eda incre\u00edblemente organizado, limpio y ordenado, pero supongo que as\u00ed son todas las l\u00edneas de producci\u00f3n de 1TP125 hoy en d\u00eda. S\u00e9 que tuve la suerte de visitar la f\u00e1brica de McLaren F1 en Woking hace un par de a\u00f1os y me qued\u00e9 estupefacto por lo impecablemente limpios que estaban sus talleres - todo blanco y literally ni una gota de aceite o tinciest mota de polvo (que Ron Dennis debe ser un sue\u00f1o para vivir con - 'Nah s\u00f3lo dejarlo amor, vamos a limpiar por la ma\u00f1ana ;-)).<\/p>\n<div No te puedes hacer una idea de lo que est\u00e1 pasando all\u00ed porque hay un mont\u00f3n de motos muy brillantes y muy acabadas, listas para ser puestas a prueba. Hab\u00eda una o dos con etiquetas en las que se mencionaban fallos y ajustes que hab\u00eda que hacer, as\u00ed que supongo que su process est\u00e1 funcionando y est\u00e1n recogiendo cualquier problem antes de que salgan por la puerta.<\/p>\n<p>Todo ello culmin\u00f3 en el extra\u00f1o espect\u00e1culo de una bicicleta en un banco lista para ser embolsada y embalada. Tambi\u00e9n tienen que desmontar parcialmente algunas motos para el env\u00edo, dependiendo de ad\u00f3nde se env\u00eden. Al parecer, pa\u00edses como Brasil imponen fuertes aranceles a la importaci\u00f3n de m\u00e1quinas completas, por lo que hay que enviarlas como kits, para volver a montarlas en el momento de la entrega y evitar los aranceles. A mis cuarenta a\u00f1os, recuerdo el cierre de la planta de Meriden y supongo que las motos siempre fueron algo que se fabricaba en el extranjero.
