FIM Motorcycle Racing Helmet Testing & Homologation
In 2019, the FIM (the governing body for international motorcycle sport) decided to implement their own helmet testing regime. Helmet manufacturers have to submit helmets for testing and the FIM then lab tests them to make sure they’re up to the job of protecting racers.
Sometimes only one or two sizes of a helmet will be certified so it’s not always the case that all helmet sizes of a particular model will be certified (though you’d imagine they’d be OK). But if you buy a helmet that’s FIM homologated, you’ll know you’re wearing exactly the same helmet that’s being used on the track.
So, if you see a helmet on these pages, there’s a version that’s been FIM homologated for professional motorcycle racing – including MotoGP.
